Vicons Surveyor dome cameras and the companys Kollector digital recording stations have recently been installed across a major European supermarket chain in Belgium and Luxemburg.
Cora operates six hypermarkets in Belgium with outlets at locations including Brussels, Rocourt and Hornu.
These sites are benefiting from Vicons Kollector which stores video on a 60 Gb hard drive. The unit provides continuous recording times well above its nearest competitor. Additional drives can be fitted for extended recording. The Kollector can record from 16 cameras simultaneously and video is viewed through a PC monitor.
Video scenes can be exported easily from the system to a network drive or in standard JPEG format to removable media. The unit not only removes the need for tape back up, but also acts as a powerful multiplexer.
The Cora outlets in Brussels, Rocourt and Hornu sites are major hypermarkets of over 10,000 square metres. Cora is Belgiums second biggest supermarket and hypermarket operator in a fiercely competitive market. It is also active in northern and eastern France and acts as a distributor for smaller retailers in areas of Belgium not covered by its stores.
The installations have been implemented by Chubb Belgium. One of Coras flagship Belgian stores is located in the Woluwe suburb of Brussels some six kilometers outside the city. This site features extensive car park surveillance using a mixture of Vicons fixed and dome cameras.
Chubb have also opted for Vicons Nova range of video matrix units. The Nova microprocessor-controlled matrices accommodate pre-configured systems. The smaller units cater for installations of 32 inputs and 8 outputs while the larger models can accommodate complex systems of up to 2,048 cameras and 128 monitors. The matrices offer extensive tour sequence support and there is also provision for comprehensive titling and a built-in interface for control by a host computer which is achieved through a graphical PC configurator.
