VICON AT THE TREASURY

Vicon Industries have recently supplied their Vistar pan and tilts together with high speed zoom lenses and camera housings to the ongoing refurbishment project at the HM Treasury building in London’s Parliament Street.

The Vicon weather-proof housings are a compact model with a spring-hinged cover. They are manufactured to IP65 and weigh 1.4kg. Dimensions are 241 mm x 82 mm x 72 mm. The camera housings are attractively styled and combine easily with Vicon pan and tilts and bracketry. They are constructed to provide easy camera adjustment and, where appropriate, tamperproof security.

The pan and tilts in use at the Treasury are the Vistar 35 model. These cater for a 16 kilogram load and offer 6 degrees/second pan speed and 3 degrees/second tilt. The accompanying mounts and brackets were tailor made by Vicon in order to preserve the aesthetics of this listed building. The bracketry was also finished in a non-standard RAL colour to client specification. The accompanying Vicon lenses are high speed 10:1 models with auto-iris zoom and video drive.

The project is a major refurbishment of the west wing of The Treasury which is due for completion in June 2002.

The main civil engineer, Bovis LendLease, are refurbishing the building from the subbasement to the roof. The architects on the project are Foster and Partners while the electro-mechanical design team is JB & B. The security consultant and installers are ADT (City).

The project includes access control units supplied by Tac, visitor registration systems and fast lane barriers.
