Surveyor Dome cameras and matrix switching systems from Vicon Industries are being installed at the £21m Manchester International Convention Centre.
Due for completion in October, the convention centre will cater for 800 delegates. The building is an extension to the G-Mex exhibition centre. It will include an auditorium, 2,000 sq ms multi-purpose exhibition hall, foyers and extensive press facilities.
The Vicon Surveyor dome cameras will be used for conventional security monitoring but will also assist facilities managers with logistical tasks. The Surveyor dome offers a comprehensive tour package with a self-learning mode that records movement sets, and stores them as individual tours. Uniquely, each dome contains a real-time clock allowing independent programming of auto start/stop for tours, pre-sets, alarm enable/disable and relay output on/off.
The convention centre is connected to the G-Mex exhibition complex at ground and first floor levels. The multi-purpose hall comprises a structural steel frame covered in block-work, stone, pre-cast concrete columns and terne-coated stainless steel cladding panels.
