Telemetry equipment from Vicon Industries has recently been installed at a major housing estate in Landport, Portsmouth.
The Landport estate, known as Landport Courts is located in the heart of Portsmouth. The area has suffered from high rates of petty crime, anti-social behaviour, vandalism and drug related issues but is now benefiting from significant investment from an urban regeneration programme of which one aspect is the installation and extension of CCTV systems.
Fareham-based installer TM Security have implemented Vicons V1466 video matrix unit. This microprocessor-controlled unit accommodates pre-configured systems with minimum 32 inputs and 16 outputs to maximum 256 inputs and 32 outputs. The matrix offers extensive tour sequence support and there is also provision for comprehensive titling and a built-in interface for control by a host computer which is achieved through a graphical PC configurator.
The 50-camera system at Landport Courts includes vandal resistant assemblies within the individual buildings and on stairwells. The installation features fibre-optic links to the main Portsmouth City Council control room, utilising bi-directional fibre-optics and RS422/RS485 protocol. The installation will soon be extended to cover car parking areas and recreational spaces.
TM Security are a prominent consultant and installer in both the public and retail sectors and have achieved the ISO9002 quality standard award. In addition to extensive involvement with Portsmouth City Council, current activity includes work in Havant and at Londons Dorchester Hotel.
Landport is best known as the birthplace of Charles Dickens. The area was virtually demolished in 1940 during bombing raids, one of the few structures to survive being the well known Anglo-Catholic church of St. Agathas.
