A large number of compact dome cameras from Vicon Industries have recently
been installed at Upton Park, home of West Ham Football Club.
The installation is part of a major refurbishment of the ground during which three of the stands will be completely rebuilt. Work is currently being completed on the roof of the west stand.
The Vicon cameras are the companys Surveyor CP22 models with pendant housings. The Vicon Surveyor family of dome cameras forms a tried and tested range of products with an impeccable pedigree. The units have self-learn tours that simplify programming and allow for in-sequence editing and reverse touring. At West Ham they are located on access roads and concourses throughout the complex.
The design features a drive mechanism that can be operated independently from the housing, so allowing installers an easy way to test functionality prior to permanent mounting. Extensive menu-based programming configures each unit to individual requirements.
The stadium cameras form a node within the Newham town centre CCTV system and on match days police and club security staff can view pictures of supporters as they approach the ground from pubs and shopping areas. Pictures can be imported and exported from the two systems.
The stadiums extensive control centre is located in the Bobby Moore Stand extension
The installation has been performed by ADT's Loughton office. The construction work is being supervised by Hiltons of Newcastle and the mechanical & electrical contractor is WSP.
