Vicon Industries announces its digital multiplexer recorder, the AurorAcorD.
This is an innovative combination of multiplexer and digital video/audio recorder which allows 16 channels of video to be recorded to the units hard drive in a variety of settings for recording rate, sensitivity and quality.
Recording-time is maximized by a Wavelet compression algorithm which condenses video information without compromising quality. In addition, the audio utilizes a similar codec compression scheme to optimize recording times and limit the effective bandwidth to 6 KHz.
One of the most notable features of the product is Museum Search which is applied to playback video. AurorAcorD is able to divide video pictures into 192 motion detection blocks. Thus, imagining the scenario of an end-user employing the equipment at a museum where a painting has been removed, the AurorAcorD operator can nominate the block of the picture formerly occupied by the painting and scan the hard disk at an accelerated playback rate for motion in that square without having to review the whole video at the recorded rate.
AurorAcorD can be fitted with one or two hard drives or one hard drive and a CD-R/W drive. The hard drive stores the motion video with audio in a proprietary format along with alarm, time and titling information for each camera. AurorAcorD features full telemetry control (PTZ). Using front panel keys, it can remotely control up to 16 camera domes/PTZ drives using RS-422/485 protocol.
Display options include play back through a VGA monitor output or a standard digital BNC output. The VGA output provides a horizontal resolution of 720 pixels (540 TVL) and the digital BNC output provides 640 pixels (480 TVL) resolution.
The unit can be configured such that the hard drive will stop recording or overwrite itself when the end of the disk is reached.
AurorAcorD features video motion detection in all display formats. Detected motion on recording video may be used to generate alarms or to increase the overall system-recording rate or both.
AurorAcorD is programmed with user-friendly, context sensitive on-screen menus which lead the user step-by-step through the various programming functions. A significant feature is the ability to set the background to video or essentially make it transparent while viewing the display. AurorAcorD retains all its programme information during power failures and will reset and reload user settings when power is returned. There is provision for optional passcoding which restricts access to the programming screens.
A full accessory kit includes rack mounting brackets/handles, software, termination blocks and cable accessories
