Hauppauge, NY, July 28, 2006: Vicon Industries Inc., a leading designer and producer of digital and IP video surveillance systems, is pleased to introduce a sleek new appearance for its popular Kollector Elite and Kollector Pro digital network video recorders. Renamed the Kollector Elite XG and Kollector Pro XG (for “NeXt Generation”), the new models feature a curved, silver, molded front panel and will begin shipping this August. The Kollector Series of DVRs are designed for use as part of the ViconNet® fully integrated network solution for the collection, maintenance and control of digital video for high-end security applications. The new front panels of the “XG” models do not affect the units’ functionality, interfaces, dimensions or compatibility with other components within new or installed ViconNet systems.
The Kollector Series is the second line of ViconNet compatible components to benefit from an updated look; the KTX-4, Vicon’s state-of-the-art 4-channel IP Server, was introduced earlier this year with a similar appearance.
“While the front panel redesign of the Kollector Elite XG and Kollector Pro XG is purely aesthetic, we feel that the products’ more modern, streamlined outside now better reflects the sophisticated digital technology that we’ve engineered inside,” explains Bret McGowan, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
All orders for Kollector DVRs received August 2006 and later will receive the new XG models. ViconNet 3.0 software, as well as the older 2.18 version, remains available for use with both products. For more information on the Kollector Series and other ViconNet products, visit the Vicon website at
